In my last article I told a personal story in which I let QR codes help me set my creativity free. In this new article, I´m going to show you some very cool and creative QR codes people created, and that helped them make money!
Emart launched a Sunny Sale campaign in which they decided to build a 3D QR Code that worked only for an hour, as the drawing became complete when the shadow reflected at a certain moment of the day. It was directed to pedestrians, who were supposed to scan the sculpture, located in the sidewalk. The aim was to increase sales during lunch hours… the result? A 25% increase in sales during lunch hours!
Remember how people used to show love to each other, by making a cassette with songs that represented their love? Well take a look at what a creative agency from the UK created. They used QR codes and Spotify to create your modern playlists to share with whoever you want!
MyToys.de is an online game store in Germany, who was looking to increase their LEGO sales… so they set their QRtivity free! Here´s what they did: they created 4 different LEGO QR CODES. Each code –obviously made out of LEGOs- was linked to a different LEGO box, in MyToys site. For example, one was sea serpent attacking a pirate ship, another was directed to a space craft over an alien, another a wizard in front of a princess’s castle, and finally, a fire truck that extinguishes a burning house. The outcome? A 49% increase in the visitors to the store´s site, and a number of sales of the advertised boxes that doubled the ones of those not advertised ones!
Another very clever campaign was one of Victoria’s Secret. In this campaign, posters showing a model of the brand, nude, but solely covered by a QR code were created. These advertisements said: “Reveal Erin’s Secret”. When people scanned the QR code, it linked to another picture of the model wearing one of Victoria’s Secret’s pieces of underwear, you could also see more products and ever buy them online!
Finally, let me show you a genius marketing campaign Tesco (Home Plus) carried out in South Korea. They created a virtual store by means of posters and QR codes! Take a look at this video:
